It was a beautiful sunny day, March 2020. We were celebrating my husband’s birthday at our home with the family, including our beloved “abuelito”. No one knew at that point that our lives would change in a blink of an eye, and that was going to be the last get together before our nightmare began.
On April 14th, 2020 both of my parents started having cold symptoms, but it didn’t appear to be COVID-19 related. After 5 days my mother stopped having symptoms, but my father was getting worse by the hour. He was taken to the ICU and was intubated to a ventilator. Unfortunately, our healthy father, husband and grandfather lost his battle of COVID-19 on May 6th, 2020.
He was a retiree who worked as a mechanic until he was 70 years old, extremely healthy, kind loving person, who loved God and his family above all. As their retirement was not sufficient to pay their bills, they rented the garage and sometimes a bedroom to help out with their living costs, but when the pandemic started, the renters left.
At this time your generosity is needed with the unexpected memorial arrangements which will happen after the pandemic and also to help Mrs. Mery Chung as she navigates this life without her husband, while continuing taking care of herself as she is also positive and asymptomatic with COVID-19.
