My father’s name is Aaron G. De Vera and he is an employee at Manila International airport. He is 58 years old and a person with disability. He has had heart problems and has undergone several bypass surgeries to save his life.
To date we have been hit with over PHP630,000.00 taking into account already the government health care and insurance discounts. Our family is not wealthy, my mum is just a janitor and my oldest sister is a student and my other sister is working minimum wage but because of COVID-19 she was laid off. I am just in high school and I try to do side jobs to help the family pay bills. This has been a huge burden financially for us. Our family and extended family has used all our savings to try to pay past surgery and hospital bills for my Dad. His medications needed to keep him healthy and alive after the bypass surgery costs P8,000.00 a week. We sometimes can’t afford all our expenses and my Dad prioritise the family over himself, leaving him vulnerable for another heart attack.
This was the case recently with COVID-19 and being in lockdown. He prioritised us having food and water. June 15, 2020, he suffered from his 3rd heart attack and needed to be rushed to hospital and revived. He needed to have emergency bypass surgery. It was revealed that the previous surgery didn’t work as it was supposed to and they missed a stent. He is now in Critical Care Unit and still not ok at this point. We have been given a bill of over PHP600,000.00 and he is still not yet out of the hospital and this will continue to increase until he can be discharged.
We are asking for the help and generosity of people to help our family pay for this life saving surgery. We need raise this money urgently because the hospital is already asking for payment of the first half of the bill. We don’t know what else we can do now that we are barely able to stay afloat financially as a family and we need our Dad/Husband, he means the world to us. We know it is a difficult time for many people out there at the moment with COVID-19 but any amount would really help our Dad, if you can spare it we would be really grateful for your help it could make a world of difference for our family.
